Peter Schmeichel urges Wayne Rooney to leave Manchester United
Manchester United’s legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has urged troubled striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 to leave Old Trafford. Schmeichel hinted that manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been unable to get the best out of Rooney, claiming that the striker should play
under a manager who can handle his fiery attitude.
Wayne Rooney has been scoring goals seemingly at will in the past few weeks, but the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international still finds himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Rooney was handed a two-match ban by the Football Association (FA) for inappropriate
conduct, a verdict that has seen him miss out on United’s home game against Fulham. The ban also means that Rooney will have to sit out the vital FA cup semi-final clash against bitter rivals Manchester City.
The FA was forced to take action after Rooney swore at television cameras following his hat-trick against West Ham United last weekend. Though Manchester United appealed against the decision, it seems unlikely that the FA will reconsider their stance on
the matter.
The decision has left manager Sir Alex Ferguson with a major selection headache ahead of his side’s FA Cup encounter against City, something that could have been avoided completely had Wayne Rooney just kept his temper in check.
Everyone seems to have an opinion on the striker these days, but former Manchester United keeper Peter Schmeichel’s views are perhaps the most radical yet. The legendary shot-stopper has claimed it would be best for Wayne Rooney if he left Old Trafford.
In fact, Schmeichel says that the England international should leave the Premier League.
He said, “I think it would be good for him to get away. It would be good for him to play for another club. Real Madrid under (Jose) Mourinho, is someone that could handle him and get the best out of him. It is painful to say that that the best player you
have, which he is at United, he is better off trying something new.”
Schmeichel added, “United will probably not sell him to another English club, but a change of scenery would help."
