Peter Siddle, Brad Haddin back in Australian squad after lay-off
The Australian squad for the one-off T20 match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and Sri Lanka to be played on Sunday has been named. The game, which will be played at the WACA in Perth will be the start of the short
tour by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 of Australia.
The Australian selectors named a 12-member squad for the T20I and will see the return of wicket-keeper Brad Haddin and fast bowler Peter Siddle. Both Haddin and Siddle were injured and have almost missed
one year of international cricket due to the injuries. The side also includes spinner Steve O'Keefe, and medium-pace all-rounder John Hastings.
Apart from this, the selectors have continued to give Michael Hussey and Mitchell Johnson a break in order to allow them to play some Sheffield Shield cricket before they take on England in the first Test
match in the Ashes. Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, who will also be a part of that Ashes team, has been selected for the game.
The batting order consists of Dave Warner and Watson at the top of the innings, followed by the troika of captain Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, deputy Cameron White and David Hussey. Steven Smith will hold the all-rounder’s
berth followed by wicket-keeper Haddin. The toss-up for the final four slots in the starting eleven will be between Hastings, O'Keefe, Siddle, Clint McKay and Dirk Nannes.
Speaking of the selection, chairman of selectors, Andrew Hilditch said, "Peter [Siddle] is a key bowler in all forms of the game and has made a return from injury and is now ready to take his place in this
Australia Twenty20 squad."
Speaking of Tim Paine’s absence after Haddin’s return to international cricket, Hilditch said that he was unlucky to miss out but Haddin’s recovery means that the selectors had to select him back.
Hilditch added, "The squad also sees some of our best young talent continuing to increase their international experience and exposure. Players like Steve Smith, Stephen O'Keefe and John Hastings all have
exciting all-round skills for Twenty20 cricket and it will be great to see them against a very strong Sri Lanka squad."
Brett Lee and Shaun Tait were both excluded from the squad.
