Peter Siddle admits he will have to fight for his Test spot against Pat Cummins – Cricket News Update
Australia’s speedster http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins might be the third seamer for the first game in Cape Town on Wednesday,
November 9, 2011.
The Kangaroos started the series with a comfortable win in the Twenty20 match against the Proteas. However, the latter bounced back in the two match series, winning the final game and levelling the series at 1-1.
Cummins made his international debut in those matches and impressed one and all with his pace and movement. He was also a part of the three-match One day International (ODI) series and did well in the 50-over format as well.
The 18-year-old is a part of Australia’s Test squad as well and might get the baggy green on November 9. If he gets a chance, it will be the third seamer as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945 are likely to lead the attack in the opening game.
However, it will be a tough decision for the Aussie selectors, as Cummins inclusion will mean that Siddle will be rested.
The latter praised his team-mate, but said he will like to make it to the final eleven against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
Siddle stated, “You want your body to be feeling good and you want to be happy with how you're going. I'm in a good place at the moment and feeling confident... we'll leave the rest up to the selectors.” He further joked, “Hopefully I can hold him (Cummins)
off for a bit longer though.”
The right arm pacer further added, “It's exciting (Cummins' introduction). I got the opportunity to play against him last year in a T20 for Victoria against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823. Just his pace and his composure out in the middle he was very relaxed for a bloke
of his age. To watch him grow throughout the T20s and the one-dayers here, it's exciting.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 have enjoyed a good tour until now, winning the ODI series by 2-1 and levelling the Twenty20 series. The team will now look to build on this momentum and overcome the opposition in the longest version of the game as well.
