Peter Siddle was delighted over leading the Australian attack against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in the first Test of the two match series at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (BCG) in Brisbane on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
The Kangaroos have been struck with injury problems due to which the national selectors included four uncapped players in the 12-man squad for the opening Test against the Kiwis.
Out of those four, three were fast bowlers namely http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Cutting-c1132.
The trio was included in the side because of injuries to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558.
This would have put pressure on Siddle, who had to lead the way for the youngsters, but he said that it was an exciting thing to spearhead the attack alongside a talented bunch of fast bowlers.
The 27-year-old claimed, “I like hanging around the young guys. I've always been a good mate with little Patto (Pattinson), so to have Starcy (Starc) there as well and Cuttsy (Cuttig), yeah it does make me feel a little bit old, but it's always fun and enjoyable
to have those guys around the group.”
He further went onto say, “I get along well with the young guys, always have... just being able to be around them and show them that I'm confident in them and be able to have fun, let them enjoy themselves, and try to get their minds off it a bit.”
Siddle himself is relatively new to Test cricket, as he made his debut in against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in 2008. He has played 25 matches since then and taken 82 wickets until now with a decent strike-rate of 63.4.
He is extremely aggressive and runs in hard at every ball, giving 100 percent every time he is given an opportunity to represent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. His best bowling figures in an innings are six for 54.
However, the right-arm seamer has been in and out of the side since making his mark at the international arena. He will look to do well against the Black Caps and the Indian side in back to back Test series in order to cement his spot permanently in the
side.
