Peter Siddle hints at four-prong pace attack for Perth Test - Cricket News Update
The pace spearhead of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 starting at WACA, Perth on Friday, January 13 2012.
The Australian pace attack has so far dominated the star studded Indian batting line up, picking up 37 of the total 40 opposition wickets claimed in the last two Tests of the series. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BW-Hilfenhaus-c1204 is leading the wickets chart with 15 wickets while Siddle
and injured rookie pacer James Pattinson share 11 wickets apiece. On the other hand, spinners - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 - claimed 2 and one wicket respectively.
Bad news for the hosts is that the well in form young fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Harris-c2330, is the best fitting replacement for Patto.
Siddle said though Harris' pace is less than the injured Pattinson, he seems in good shape and hoped the 32-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 pacer would give a tough fight on the field.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739) is a bit smaller than Patto (Pattinson) but with 145k outswingers he isn't a bad bloke to come in and replace him (Pattinson). He's strong, hard and he likes a good fight out on the ground," said Siddle speaking to the media ahead of the
Perth Test.
"So I'd say Rhino (Harris) is ready to go. Whether it's him or http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392, they are all ready to go. They're fit and strong. They're feeling good about it,” he added further.
However, the 27-year-old Victorian pacer made it clear that they have not yet finalised their starting XI for the match. He further added that whether they play four quicks or take in a spinner as well, they would have to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 to the game plan and bowl
their best to get the breakthroughs as quick as possible.
The WACA curators have promised a quick and bouncy wicket for the India-Australia clash, similar to the one used in the Ashes game last year in which Australia had played a four-pronged pace attack and sealed the deal in their way on the fourth day.
"If you play four quicks, it's tough work and hard (on the batsmen). You got the quicks coming at your hard and fast non-stop all day which does build a lot of pressure," said Siddle.
