Peter Torebko thrashes Oliver Golding in second round – Loughborough Challenger 2011
The second round matches of the men’s single competition continued on November 9, 2011 at the 2011 AEGON Pro-Series Loughborough Challenger. Peter Torebko (Germany) played the second round match against Oliver Golding (Great Britain).
Torebko won the match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
Ranked at 270th place, Torebko was sensational against the 751st ranked Golding. Torebko was amazing with his serves. He scored twelve aces in the match and conceded double faults only twice. Golding could only score
two aces and had the same amount of double faults.
Torebko was going great with his service games and scored majority of his points from his own serves. In total, he scored 92% points from his first serve and 46% points from his second serve. Golding was not as impressive with
his service games. He could score 46% points from his first serve and 29% from his second serve.
As the first set progressed, Torebko was dominant from the first game he played in the set. He scored five aces in the set by conceding double faults twice. Golding had a higher first serve winning ratio with 71% as compared to
Torebko’s 50%, but the British player was unable to keep pace with the German.
The German won 91% points from his first serve and saved the only breakpoint he faced. He did not provide any room to Golding to break his serves. The British performed poorly in the first set as far as his serves were concerned.
He could score only 47% points with his first serve and a meagre 14% from his second serve.
Golding was not looking at ease while playing against Torebko. The British player was wobbly with his serves and could not start any counter attack against his German opponent in during any game of the first set. Torebko won the
first set 6-1.
With the second set in progress, the 23-year old Torebko was again showing his fine form in the match and continued to maintain his dominance over the 18-year old Golding. The German scored seven aces in the second set and did
not concede any double fault.
After the first set, Golding was intimidated by Torebko, and lacked the morale to start an attack. He was unable to score any ace and his controlled service games prevented him from conceding any double faults.
The German was again on target during the second set with his service games as he scored 92% points from his first serve while Golding could score 45% points.
Both players were almost equal when it came to winning points on second serve as Torebko won 46% points and Golding scored 43%. Torebko was again successful in saving his breakpoint in the second set while Golding was having difficulties
saving his breakpoints, as he could save six breakpoints out of the eight he faced.
Torebko was flawless in the entire match as he thrashed Golding to enter the quarterfinals of the 2011 Loughborough Challenger.
