Peter Uihlein confident as he joins the European Tour
After a successful amateur season in 2011, Peter Uihlein has decided to turn professional.
Uihlein has confirmed that he will be playing on the European Tour in 2012. It will be his first appearance on any of the Tours as a professional player.
Uihlein, who surged up to the first position five times since May 2010, maintains a spectacular record in the past two years.
Moreover, he won six of the eight matches that he played for the United States in the last two Walker Cups.
While playing the European Tour, he will play under the same management, Chubby Chandler of British-based International Sports Management, as did the Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, Open champion Darren Clarke and world’s number two, Lee Westwood.
Because of his thrilling performances in the United States as an amateur, plenty of expectations are set on this young star. He will now gain considerable experience while playing against some of the greatest players in the sport.
He will be moving from continent to continent to play in different high profile tournaments.
Uihlein's decision to join the European Tour was unique in the sense that most of the Americans start their professional careers from the PGA Tour.
By choosing the European Tour, the rising star wants to challenge some of the greatest names of the recent times, such as Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy, Schwartzel and many other young players.
Uihlein’s ambition to play amongst a pool of high profile players highlights his confidence in his game. Undoubtedly, he has the attitude, talent and skills to reach the peak.
So far, he has performed superbly in his golfing career. However, it remains to be seen how his professional career goes in the upcoming events.
He has the ability to learn and develop quickly. His perfect strokes and calculated shots make him stand out among his peers, signalling he can outplay his rivals in future.
He is a quick learner and a great improviser. His knowledge of the game and his sharp eye on his opponents’ playing tactics and techniques, advantages and weaknesses, make him superior to others.
Uihlein will make his debut in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in the last week of January, 2012.
He chose an event for his debut that boasts one of the strongest fields on the European Tour season, including the world’s number one Luke Donald, McIlrоy, legendary Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood and the defending champion Martin Kаymer.
To play against the top players of the world in his season’s opening event will be a huge test for his competence.
It also comes as an opportunity for him to prove his critics wrong, who apparently have refrained from rightly judging his potential as a professional player.
He can prove himself as a strong competitor against world class professional players participating in the event.
Moreover, he is planning to earn a full time European Tour card by placing himself among the top golfers around the world and recording some professional wins in the 2012 season.
He has, no doubt, the ability to progress and reach the top spot. His debut season will mark the start of a number of successes for another American golf star of the future.
