Peter Whiteford shoots -4 in the second round of the Volvo China Open

Peter Whiteford shot a 6-under 138 in the second round of the Volvo China Open, grabbing a lead over his rivals.
The 31-year-old Scottish professional golfer is battling for the $3 million purse, being staged at the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
He started the current season on the European Tour from the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and finished on the 42nd position.
Later, he missed the cut in five tournaments in different regions and was miserably disqualified from the Avantha Masters, due to a ball-moving incident.
Since January, he has faced several challenges on the golf courses and from the other professional players as well. Missing the cut five times and getting disqualified from the event creates big problems for a golf player.
However, the three-time Challenge Tour winner is back in form and is displaying better performance in China. Analysts said that he is performing better than previous events.
Whiteford started the Volvo China Open on Thursday and registered two long birdies on the 2nd and the 3rd holes. Then he moved further and shot five pars and one bogey on the front nine holes of the course.
He started well on the back nine as well and scored three birdies on the 10th, 11th and 14th holes. He was giving his best in China, but lost focus and ended the first round with two unimpressive bogeys on the scorecard.
He scored a 2-under 70 in the first round and continued his impressive scoring in the second round on Friday, as he scored three birdies and a bogey on the front nine holes.
Whiteford amazed the spectators and his fans by not making any mistakes on the back nine holes. He scored two massive birdies and finished the round by making seven pars.
He added a -4 to the leaderboard scores and recorded 68, his best round score of the current season. He also improved his position and reached the top along with six other Scottish players.
Gary Boyd and Jean-Baptiste Gonnet finished the second round on the top. They scored 11-under 133, sharing the top position.
After making the cut successfully, Whiteford will be playing the third round on Saturday. It is expected that he will make some extra efforts at the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
