http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 has revealed he is confident the Blues will finish in the top three of the English Premier League after a particularly poor season.
Cech stressed on the importance of finishing in the top three of the English Premier League as well as making it through to the next round in the UEFA Champions League. Having lost 3-1 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in the first leg, the Blues need to score two goals without
conceding any to make it through to the next stage of the European competition.
While their chances are slim in the Champions League, the Blues are not doing too well in the English Premier League either. They are currently at fifth place on the Premier League table, level with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 on points who are currently at fourth place and
seven points behind third place Tottenham Hotspur.
Like many other Chelsea player Cech has also headed off to international duty after maintaining a clean sheet in the Premier League clash against Bolton Wanderers in the 3-0 win. The Blues stopper admitted things were currently better for country as compared
to his club.
Cech said while speaking to reporters:
“When you go with the national team and then go back with the club, its two different things.
If you have all the sort of problems in the club and the club is not doing well, and you come to an atmosphere where everyone is relaxed because you have made our target by reaching the European Championships, then the atmosphere is different and you
can enjoy it.
But you always separate the two teams because whatever problems you have with the national team or with the club, it doesn't really concern the team you are in.”
However, Cech was certain the London side could go on to secure a top three finish in the English Premier League at the end of the season. Their main concern at this point is the fact that they might not qualify for next seasons Champions League, but the
29-year-old was certain they would.
He continued:
“It's a different type of challenge. It will be a big challenge to turn things around. I think we will finish better than fourth.”
