Petra Cetkovska moves past Ayumi Morita into the second round – New Haven Open 2011
Czech tennis pro Petra Cetkovska made quick work of Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 6-2, 6-0 on Sunday to book her place in the main draw of 2011 New Haven Open here in New Haven, United States.
The 26-year-old made an aggressive start to the match as she looked in control of the contest right from the first game. Putting up even a better show in the following set, she did not allow her opponent to breathe to complete
her straight sets victory in a match that lasted for only 53 minutes on the hard courts of Cullman-Heyman Tennis Centre.
Looking to gain control over the match, Cetkovska made a strong start to the match. Breaking her opponent in the very first game of the opening set, the Czech seemed to be dominating all aspects of the game. Holding on to her service
games with any trouble what so ever, she took a healthy 3-1 lead.
Navarro, on the other hand, looked completely out of sorts as she made too many unforced errors, presenting easy scoring opportunities to her opponent. Under pressure, she failed to execute her game plan as well as she found herself
in a very difficult position in the match.
Leading 4-1 in the game score, Cetkovska broke the challenger for the second time in the set to earn an impassable 5-1 lead. Holding on to her next serve game with ease, she took the set score lead.
The Czech continued to display some high quality tennis in the following set as she outclassed her opponent in all department of tennis. Breaking her opponent at regular intervals, she looked in charge of the clash. Dashing her
blistering backhand and gorgeous forehand winners both down the line and cross court, she dented her opponent confidence levels.
Firing a blistering serve ace at 5-0 in the set, she made three match points available to her and then converted the first one with a well disguised drop shot to close out the match.
It will not be wrong to say that Cetkovska was the better of two players by miles. She played very aggressively from the baseline to create all sorts of problems for her rival.  Converting 71 per cent of the points on her first
serve, she took great advantage of her powerful serves. Her defence was also as good as her attacking abilities as she brushed aside the Spaniard to advance into the main draw.
