Petra Chocova clinches Women’s 50m breaststroke gold: Day seven – European LC Championships
Petra Chocova of Czech Republic clinched gold medal of the Women’s 50m breaststroke on day seven of the European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Sunday, May 27.
Chocova stunned the aquatic crowd with her dazzling performance in the shortest breaststroke discipline and proved her mettle for the top position of the discipline.
She experienced strong resistance of her closest challenger throughout the discipline but with her irresistible efforts, she managed to reach the podium for gold medal with a phenomenal timing of 31.25 seconds.
The champion was followed by Sycerika McMahon of Ireland, who stayed just 0.02 seconds slower and clocked a time of 31.27 seconds for silver medal of the discipline.
The second position holder was chased by Caroline Ruhnau of Germany, who stayed 0.08 seconds behind and settled on the victory stand for third position by producing a time of 31.35 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Concepcion Badillo Diaz of Spain, who stayed 0.34 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by submitting a time of 31.69 seconds.
Fifth position of the 50m discipline was secured by Valentina Artemyeva of Russia, who stayed just 0.01 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and submitted a time of 31.70 seconds.
Artemyeva was chased by Katharina Stiberg of Norway, who suffered a loss of 0.25 seconds from her former finisher and reported a time of 31.95 seconds for sixth position.
Similarly, Stiberg was chased by Martina Moravcikova of Czech Republic, who was only a touch slower from her foregoing finisher and occupied seventh position of the event by clocking a time of 32.05 seconds.
Subsequently, last spot of the event was obtained by Hrafnhildur Luthersdottir, who was just 0.20 seconds slower and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 32.25 seconds.
In addition, the crowd appreciated exhausting efforts of all participants in the 50m discipline whereas the position holders raked medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. Furthermore, the championship concluded after the completion of all swimming events in Men and Women’s category.
