Petra Granlund displays an inspiring swim in 400m freestyle: 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup
Sweden’s young athlete, Petra Granlund, continued her impressive performance as she went on to win her second gold medal in Women’s 400m freestyle meet in the evening session on day two of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,
on Saturday, October 8.
Granlund delivered her best swim due to her sparkling speed and increased stamina in front of the large audience. As a result, she captured the Women’s 400m freestyle title by posting a mouth shattering time of 4 minutes and 15.53 seconds. In the corresponding
meet, Tanja Smid of Slovakia proved her swimming talent by winning silver medal with a sterling mark of 4 minutes and 17.72 seconds.
In the meantime, Slovakia’s Spela Bohinc turned the tables and won bronze title on the podium by submitting a scintillating time of 4 minutes and 21.93 seconds. The swimmers took a huge ovation from spectators due to their impressive swims.
Moreover, United Arab Emirates’s Aysha Xanthe Anouque Berghuis earned fourth place honours with a time of 4 minutes and 37.22 seconds. Additionally, Rhea Castelino of United Arab Emirates settled for fifth position in the respective meet with a time of 4
minutes and 52.56 seconds.
In the Men’s corner, Chad Le Clos of South Africa earned golden crown in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) meet with a victorious mark of 1 minute and 55.14 seconds. In the corresponding race, Dinko Jukic picked silver title in a time of 1 minute and
56.10 seconds, whereas, Yuma and Kosaka settled for bronze medal in a time of 1 minute and 56.93 seconds.
The top three swimmers were awarded medals and cash prize after the session’s completion. The 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup is a popular series, as it is providing an excellent opportunity to all athletes to prepare themselves hard for their upcoming events,
particularly the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The next round of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series is scheduled to take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from October 15-16.
