Try using less petrol. Almost half of all car journeys in Britain are 1 mile or less. Obesity from lack of exercise and poor diet is at record levels, so walk or cycle short distances, and in particular walk your kids to school, For journeys where it is possible use trains and buses; trains are often much faster than driving. The heavy use of cars leads to massive daily conjestion, contributes to global warming, record obesity and record numbers of Asthma cases in children. A car in most

situations isn't necessary, unless you live in a very remote rural area. It is not a vital appendage like your genitals; oil is running out anyway. Get real people.

Sorry but i find it hard to support anything that could negatively effect masses of innocent people over any public holiday, in particular christmas.

Same for postal strikes and airline strikes... more publicity, maybe, but at what cost?

Causing chaos over a period of celebration just makes you as bad as whoever or whatever you might be protesting against.

Its selfish and unjustifiable.

Are you sure this is'nt a rumour I work in a petrol station and talk to the truckers and I have'nt heard anything. But 1 thing I do know thry wont tell you when, will just do it without warning they want it to be bigger and better than 2000. But the sooner the better.

Wait til 2008 and try to get hold of a New City Th!nk or a Smart EV.    Speeds around 60-70mph, ranges between 70-110 miles per charge.    And theyre proper 2 seater 'cars' rather than Gwiz golf karts, with the Smart being already a familiar sight on the roads as a petrol variant (suggesting Smart might have too much to lose to make their electric only version available to the general public).    By contrast Th!nk can only gain for each electric car sold, though theres indications that the battery may only be 'leased' from them and not bought outright to 'avoid worries about the battery reliability' which will probably cost as much to lease and charge as paying petrol, except we end up paying the battery lease company rather than the oil company.    And if they wont renew a leased battery, will they refund the value of the car that you paid for, which wont move without a battery?    Itd be like buying a new petrol car from Ford only to have them insist on retaining ownership of your car's petrol tank and 'permit' you to lease it for short periods of time only to avoid the worry that your fuel tank 'might start leaking' a few years down the line.

I know batteries wear down, but personally Id rather buy a battery that lasts 50-100k miles and save for any replacement like car depreciation, with the bonus of keeping my cash in my bank if the battery range remains above 50 miles per charge.    By which time replacement batteries will be much cheaper for the same standard, or the same high price for a much better 400 mile per charge battery of the future.

If the price is less than the petrol per month though Id still lease one to go green and deny big oil their terrorism funding.

If a blockage results in a tax reduction by this government then OK but I would prefer to see it take place in the new year.This is an awful time to think of it for it will cause immense hardship and distress for so many people.

One positive thing to come out of this, is that Gordon Brown might disappear for a couple of weeks (like he did during the last one in 2000).
