  1. Petrol.

If you drive a lot, then diesel is a better choice.

  2. petrol

  3. Diesel, less moving parts and more MPG.

  4. as the cost for fuel keeps rising. i think that it will be better to buy a car with a small turbo diesel engine, as this would be cheap on fuel and also tax. but i still love the performance of the biger petrol engines even though i would never buy one due to the insurance and the high tax.

  5. Diesel, it last longer.

  6. Diesel that's what i have now its the first diesel i have had and you get more miles to the gallon the car last longer why do you think Cabby's use them.Good luck in your decision

  7. Petrol every time, especially if you only do 5k miles a year. Diesels are pretty nasty things, IMHO, and only make any sense if you're a tightwad doing 20k+ miles p.a.

The fact that most people are tightwads however, means you'll be able to get yourself a good bargain with a petrol engine, particularly if you're a good enough insurance risk to go for a bigger car. Nobody is buying big petrol cars right now and the ones on most dealers forecourts have cobwebs on them, they've been standing so long!

Pick one from just before the crazy tax takes effect (I.E. pre March 2001), and make a stupidly low offer on that big BMW you've always fancied!

  8. Diesel for economy and lower depreciation. I drive both, an Audi A4 Avant TDI for daily use and a petrol driven Audi TT more occasionally.

I enjoy them equally but for weekend use I would prefer petrol.

  9. 2.0 litre diesel

  10. diesel no question

  11. the extra cost of a diesel car in the first place cancels out the advantages of a diesel, unless you are going to cover very high miles. there are some very good cheap petrol cars out there.

there are some good diesels out there, but they are not a wise a buy as most people think.

I personally will never buy one, I work with big(60L +)  diesel engines and hate the stuff.. dirty, smelly oil. produces more soot and bad emissions than a petrol engine, higher cost ,higher tax etc,..etc.. not a green fuel by any means.
