Petrol stations, can i pay at the petrol tank?

I live in london and sometimes when im at a petrol station i see people putting petrol in there car then sticking a card in the machine without having to walk over to the shop to pay for there petrol, is this a way of paying via debit or credit card through the machine so as you don't have to wait for ages in line to pay for gas.

I would love to just fill up, pay up, move on.

  1. Most supermarket petrol stations allow for payment at the pump. In fact were I live the local tesco petrol station is un-manned and you can only pay with a card.

    If you have a debit or credit card you should have no problem.

  2. I am agree with you, Jonh, when i going at shops need to waiting because the person are paid with visa credit card,.

    And is dangerous paid with card in a station, some like to copy your inf and can to roobing your money.

    I most bet paid with money and move faster.

  3. Yes, usually instructions are on the bowser. If you pay by credit option you still have to go in and sign. If by debit option you can just drive off.

  7. I live in South Africa and the way we are so spoilt - we have someone pour the petrol for us and take the money to the till.  If there is change the petrol attendant will bring it back to your door - you do not have to move at all!!

  9. It depends on the petrol pump/station you are using. Tesco's seem to have pay@pump at most of there stations.

  10. Yes normally its says "pay at pump"  jjust follow the ind=structions on screen.  I do it all the time
