  1. It won't come down. demand and government greed will see to that.

Just remember that really it is cheap. When I first drove it was 4 shillings (£0.20) a gallon for the cheapest, bit I only earned £10 per week. Now my fuel costs are a much smaller % of my take-home.

Note I'm referring to "Jet Olympic" brand in 1966

  2. It's £1.50 this time next year....not as bad as you thought.

but it is indeed inevitable that prices will continue to rise, but still at least 5 miles driving for £1.50 is good value.

  3. chances are gas prices are gonna rise up, especially since summer is on its way

  4. There are a number of ways by which the price of petrol would reduce:-

    - The government could reduce it`s tax take

    - A large new oilfield may be found.

    - OPEC especially Saudi Arabia could increase the supply of crude oil

    - Major user countries could make major changes to alternative energy forms, especially nuclear

    - Governments could decide to deflate their economies thus reducing demand

    - The majority of motorists could decide that they should do their bit for the planet and switch to public transport

I COULD GO ON BUT THEN AS YOU MUST HAVE ALREADY NOTICED, I AM LIVING IN FAIRYLAND.

  5. Prices wont fall below the present price. Who knows if they will actually reach £1.50 by end of the year. Time will tell.

  6. It all depends on the situation in the middle-east. If British and American troops stay there and disruption increases, we can expect to see prices rise considerably.

A major proportion of the oil prices we see now is made up of a form of sanction by OPEC members making a political point, and the rest is the government taking a bigger cut to fund the Iraq war. If you ask me, it's not benefitting anyone.

  7. It won't come down

  8. The cost are just going to keep spiraling. Starting sometime this year, for example, is the new green car tax - which means any cars purchased in or before March 2001 will have to pay a substantial amount more on their car tax - for me, this is going to be £180!

Seriously, the way forward is steam powered cars or electrical cars, where we park at up giant solar stations (which should be positioned in hundreds of UK car parks) and we simply plug in our cars, and charge up whilst going out places.

IS there any other way to drive, unless your income each year is £50,000 or more?

  9. The running cost of a car in the UK will continue to rise and rise.

For years in this country it was very cheap to run a car, Now sadly them days are coming to an end!

  10. it will come down beacuase if one company sell for 1.20 thell will have to put their down to compeet with other petrol station

  11. They will just keep increasing!

If you thinks its bad now wait until you

or the car pool you may be in can't afford to get to work

    anymore!
