I am in Africa. Does it worth it to leave my current employment in an american petroleum company to go to work to the American Embassy in the capital city (I don't live in the capital, so if I accept the job, am gonna have to move there). No difference of salary and job (accounting). But what is more secure? Where can I improve better?

  1. Your just a number in the Petroleum industry.  If I were you, I would go to work for the American Embassy.  You will meet dignitaries from all around the world (job opportunities) and depending on your job position you will most likely move about every 3-5 years.  While living at your posts, you can travel the world!  What a wonderful opportunity!! Good luck!! and happy traveling!!

  2. Working at an embassy is little different than  working in a professional company.  Bear in mind, though, that for security reasons, you will be under more scrutiny than you probably would be at a private company.  It all depends on what you are looking for.  One benefit that some people find attractive is that a foreign national who works successfully at a US foreign mission for 15-years is eligible to apply for a Special Immigrant Visa to move to the US.

  3. The embassy is a better opportunity for you if you have the chance then you should take it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I would definitely suggest you to grab the offer from the US embassy, safer and secure.

    All the best

  5. Hello Zola,

They both sound attractive, but listen to what your heart says...not your mind.

It sounds simple but at the end of the day the decision is yours
