I am in Africa. Does it worth it to leave my current employment in an american petroleum company to go to work to the American Embassy in the capital city (I don't live in the capital, so if I accept the job, am gonna have to move there). No difference of salary and job (accounting). But what is more secure? Where can I improve better?

  1. If there's no difference in salary, then you might be getting a financial cut after all. Living in cities, especially capitals, is much more expensive than living in suburban or rural areas.

However, the capital might give you more job opportunities if you decide you don't want to be an accountant anymore. Embassies have multiple job opportunities. Also, it might be more exciting?

Also, you might take a more ethical side to it. Many people dislike the world's use of petroleum. You could decide you no longer want to be apart of that and work for the embassy instead for moral reasons.

  2. The Embassy will be more exciting as you will be dealing with people instead of crude, I would think the Embassy has been around allot longer then the Oil Company and will be there after the Oil Company. As far as Improving your Job, learn to become a Consulate
