I have BOUGHT a condo where pets are not allowed....but everyone has cats, birds and some little dogs!! I have a small dog too....i take him out in a big back everyday and NO one can see him....i guess someone has spotted him in the balcony and complained (he does not bark) .

They are asking me to remove my pet immediately.....i love my dog i dont want to do that....what can the co-operation do??? I mean i am going to fight, if they want my dog gone then they have to make all the other units remove their animals....

i live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada

  1. You BOUGHT it, there should be nothing to stop you from having one, especially since other people have it.

I'm glad you're fighting for him/her and please continue! You bought it, it's yours.

  2. I am assuming that you knew pets were not allowed when you bought it... you might have a tough time making a case.  My thoughts would be to try to get other pet owners involved to see if the condo rules can be amended to allow them.

  3. It really stinks, I don't think they should be allowed to tell you what you can and can't have since you bought the condo and are not renting.  (We had the same issue in our condo.)  I can see them having a problem with dogs since they need to go outside and would be in common areas, but I hated that they wouldn't even let you have cats or other indoor pets.  Honestly, most people did anyway and it was just kind of 'don't ask, don't tell."  However, if a mean-spirited neighbor complained about your dog there is not much you can do since you signed the Condo Association paperwork and knew about their no pets rule. You could try to fight it but I doubt you'd win.  I'm sorry.
