Petya Nedelcheva outshines Kirsty Gilmour en route to semi-finals of 2012 Bitburger Badminton Open

Bulgaria’s talented shuttler Petya Nedelcheva alarmed all the contestants by registering a splendid win over Kirsty Gilmour in the quarter-finals of Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold on November 2, 2012.
This Women’s Singles showdown remained in full swing for 66 minutes and both contenders kept the audience glued to their chairs while piling up final figures of 21-18, 19-21 and 21-19.
The victorious player locked the honour by dominating the opening and ending games while Kirsty could live her moment of glory only in the second set.
This battle heated up straight away in the beginning as both shuttlers strived hard to gain an early advantage in the match score position.
In the first set, they challenged each other in all areas of the game and earned a great deal of admiration for putting an honest effort.
Initially, Petya Nedelcheva got into commanding position with a notable margin of 11-7 before the interval but then the Scottish campaigner counter-balanced the situation with a strong reply.
The opening game kept swinging between both contenders all the way to the final moments and this cliff-hanging set ended when Petya placed a winning total of 21-18.
Next game added more thrill in the contest as this time it was Kirsty’s turn to serve the notice of her supremacy.
Though, she looked a bit dazzlled in the beginning but then a couple of productive rallies boosted her confidence.
She showed commendable fighting spirit and did not allow her competitor to wrap the showdown in just two games.
Later part of the game saw her in a transformed character as she bagged ten out of last 15 points and finished this crucial segment with a favourable result of 21-19.
It was a do or die situation for both shuttlers in the decider as they were standing equal in match score position and there was no margin of error.
They put all in their possession to oust the opponent but neither of them could establish a permanent lead until the game point situation. Finally, the Bulgarian player struck hard and tipped the scale in her favour with 21-19 margin.
However, the real challenge awaits Petya as she is scheduled to meet the top seeded shuttler Juliane Schenk in the semi-finals.
