I'm looking to buy a 306 for a runaround. I'm looking at a 1.9TD, 1997. Anyone know the mpg for this car? Thanks

  1. I saw your question and thought you were getting 306 miles per gallon! Those cars should get around 28 to 35 mpg US I would guess. Obviously, if you're in England, the Imperial gallon is larger and your mileage will be higher.

  2. That depends if you include the tow truck and pushing it out of the road you will have to do every month.

  3. If you get one with a Bosch injection pump (rather than the lucas one), the pump is strong enough to allow you to add vegetable oil to the diesel. (if it is used vege oil, make sure it is properly pretreated - settled and filtered) If you can get used vege oil free, and run the car on 50/50 vege/diesel the fuel bill won't be so high.

  4. go to www.whatcar.co.uk - it will give you a review on the car and all the technical info you need on every single model of the car including mpg.

  5. About 45mpg in UK gallons. Depends how you drive it and where.

  6. I had one of these a couple of years ago and i used to average around 44- 46mpg.  Decent little motors,  just dont get the NON turbo diesel as it does not have much overtaking oomph.  But you should realise that the car is over 10 years old and presumably has a high mileage so it may not do quite that, plus of course, fuel consumption always depends upon how you drive.  Heavy foot on the throttle = heavy fuel bills.  When my son borrows my 406hdi he gets about 10 miles to the gallon less than i do.

  7. Book figure shows an average of 46mpg.
