  1. A hire car won`t be clocked or have had the mileage wound back. They are serviced and maintained better most privately owned cars.

15000 Can be about right for a hire car, some get more use than others. Don`t worry about the fact that it might have been thrashed as a modern car will be able to withstand it. In fact, its unlikely to have done every one of those 15000 miles under stress as hire cars have to sit in traffic and are governed by speed cameras as much as every other car.

If you`re having reliability issues, take it back to Peugeot as the 3 years manufacturers warranty will still be in force.

  2. As an ex hire car it may be that the hire company got rid of it for reliability reasons. Most ex hire cars will be about 18 months old and have about 50,000 on the clock. By the way it is almost impossible to run back a modern speedo.

  3. does not mean that, you bought a ex hire car, it would of been hammered by people who had no respect for it,

people are like that in hired cars, not there's so they have no respect and hand them back

  4. The hire company will probably still have a service history printout for the car - get their details off the V5, ring them & ask.

  5. No, I don't think your speedo was turned back since Peugeot cars store the mileage in the bsi and in the speedo as well. What I mean is to turn back some kilometers you'll need to tamper the chip inside the speedometer and inside the bsi (in Peugeot automobiles) It is very difficult to do and you'll need a special tool like I have. If you only change the kms in the speedo, automatically the bsi will adopt the higher mileage and will change the lower one. Let's say your car is 15,000 and I change the whole speedo or just tamper its chip and put in let's say....3,000 (asuming you didn't change it on the bsi)...when you connect the plug of the speedo...the bsi will take control and change it back to 15,000 plus the 3,000 you've changed and now your car will show 18,000.

See, in Peugeot cars is very difficult to tamper the mileage. So, maybe your car is giving you trouble because that particular model (307) is a headache.

    Good Luck.
