Peugeot Cambelt Change

I just bought a npeugeot 306 which has 75000 miles on the clock, the guy said the cambelt was changed early last year (2007) when wud it be due for a change ? and is there any noise or signs that a cambelt needs changing?

  1. yes if it was changed at 75000 it will be ok for a further 72000 miles but i would advise you either look at it or get some one to check just incase it was not changed when it was said to be done hope this helps  


  2. The cambelt would need changing every three years or so with normal use: Unfortunately, you'll usually get no warning of impending failure.

    You could tell from visual inspection if the belt was actually changed last year or not.

  3. cambelts should be changed every 80,000 miles and yes a visual inspection will tell whether it has been changed,,,but on todays cars the belt cover has to be removed to see it,,,usually that close to the radiator it makes it impossible to check unless you work in a garage,

    if you have a full service history book the garage changing the belt will have said so in the service history
