Peyton Manning comeback controversy lingers on with his father uncertain on his return chances – NFL News
The controversy surrounding the return of Indianapolis Colts' quarterback, Peyton Manning, gained new grounds, with the focus of the headlines, the player himself, apparently silent over the future of his football career.
A week after Colts' owner, Jim Irsay, said that he would not commit to Peyton Manning health given his recovery problems, the player’s father, Archie Manning, has spoken of his concerns about Manning’s chances for return to the game next year.
"I don't know," Archie Manning said. "I think he's working real hard -- Peyton wants to play. He's got a good attitude about it. He's getting his health back, getting a little better. We'll just have to see what happens."
Peyton has missed the 2011 regular season of the National Football League (NFL), the premier American professional football league, for his third neck surgery in last less than two years.
He has been in the headlines since, with almost all sides surrounding his football career interests uncertain about his return to the Colts next year, or even if he is going to return to the game football at all.
The Colts earlier expressed hopes that if Peyton return next year to play football for another season it will be with the Colts. Again, apparently no comments from the player himself what he thought of the future of his football career?
Peyton had surgery in September 2011 and has been on recovery since then. His chances of recovery and a possible return into 2011 season were boosted by his doctor’s permission to him to intensify his workout.
Following the permission, the QB seemed hopeful for his return to the Colts in the last regular season. He even joined his teammates for practice in one session and apparently threw football for few throws.
However, he was reported to have been ruled out of the side completely until next season. In the very next comments, the team coach, Jim Caldwell, said that Peyton Manning will not practice along with his team and recover through individual workout, instead.
Colts owner, Irsay, then went on to rule him out of the 2011 return chances, saying it was too difficult for the player to recover for a sooner comeback.
Since then, a number of contradictory news reports have been appearing on his recovery and chances of playing football next year.
Some of the reports have hinted at the possibilities of him moving elsewhere given that the Colts were keen on signing the top draft prize next season.
His father, Archie, became the latest person to comment on his son’s chances for next year’s return to the game, saying he was not sure about him coming back.
This was the latest comment from Archie. He had earlier predicted that it would difficult for Peyton Manning to play besides the Colts rookie quarterback, Andrew Luck.
He, however, denied the comment on very next day, saying it could be possible that both players could play at the quarterback position besides each other.
