Peyton Manning increasingly becoming unlikelihood for Colts – NFL feature-1
Peyton Manning, the star quaterback of Indianapolis Colts for more than a decade, is increasingly becoming an improbability in the future of the team.
The player had consecutively been starting at the quarterback position for Colts since the last 14 years. It was only last year that Manning was unable to play his role with Colts due to a neck injury.
Just the single miss has shaken the team so much that his own future at the side now looks a remote possibility.
It is yet to be confirmed by the player if he is able to play football another year, the team have shaken all those pillars to the ground, which the QB could use a platform for his existence on the field.
He now stands having lost his back. He lost the supportive chairman, Bill Polian, and GM, Chris Polian. He is without the coach who trained, guided and supported him all those glorious years of the Colts.
Some of the assistant coaches who Manning has worked with in the past are no more there for him.
They all were dependent on the one man, and the man himself was dependent on their support.
Now, almost all of them gone in the sweeping cleansing drive launched by the team’s owner, Jim Irsay, Manning himself has become vulnerable to be swept away.
Under his contractual terms, the player is due for a payout of $28 million bonus in March this year. His future course will be decided then. He can either be let go free agent, if the team is not interested to keep him.
With the outspoken vice chairman, Bill Polian, gone, Irsay is keeping the cards on Manning decision closer to his chest. Only thing he has said so far that if Manning returns to play football another season it will be at the Colts.
There have been a number of reports pointing out at different possibilities. This includes the probability of the player’s decision to move any other team on the league.
None of these reports have been confronted by the owner. His only assurance came a couple of weeks ago that he would have a meeting with Manning within a week to discuss the future course. It’s not been clear if that meeting has already taken place.
Irsay is apparently been consumed by the campaign of his team’s cleansing of the officials from their past. He has parted ways with all those who were part of the team during its glorious and worst days.
This includes the worst ever year of the 2011 National Football Regular (NFL) regular season. The team could manage only two wins and huge 14 losses.
From their chairman, to coach and assistant coaches, who witnessed the dismal period of the team, have now become its past.
There is no hint if he is finished yet. More of the staff, and following to it, reshuffling of the squad, which without Peyton Manning is ranked at the bottom of the league, could be in the making.
Irasy in the meantime is busy in search of a new head coach. He tweeted a couple of days ago that his choice of new coach will be finalized by mid or late next week.
With the confirmation of the new coach in waiting, the team has apparently focused on offensive department staff at various teams to lead their head coaching position.
