Pfaff 6122 Problem

Question

The pressure foot release lever lifts the pressure foot up, but it does not go down with the lever. I have to manually pull it down. After pulling it down, it does go up with the lever. 

The machine is in great shape. It is about 8 years old and was used heavily for the first three years. However, it has been rarely used the last three years.
