Pfaff sewing machine hobby 850? from 1986...

Hi! I can't remember the model name of my Pfaff machine I was given in 1986...and also can't find the manual....but: what is wrong with the machine when the bobbin thread won't loop to work with the top thread? can you point me in a general direction if not provide a specific answer? thanks so much!!!!
