Is there such thing as studying for a Ph.D in film footage archive archaeology?

  1. well first, you wouldnt be "studying" for a PhD, you would be designing and conducting and reporting on your own research project... so, could it be in film? sure, as long as you can find a supervisor who is willing to take you on as a student, usually someone who already does research in that area...

    is it possible to find such a supervisor? no idea...

I think that it would be something you could specialize in with combined degrees, but not something you could get a PhD in per say.  Usually, anthropologists in general will get degrees as closely related to what they want to study as possible and then specialize in a particular area from that point.

    For instance, I once read a book on the psychology of woman within the Aztec culture before European contact.  I believe she had a PhD in Archeology (where she did most of her work in Mexico) and a degree in psychology.  She then specialized in psychological archeology and ethnography.
