  1. No it means that you will still have what you earned but you will not have the respect that you once had.....................

  2. h**l, NO.  That;s a college degree earned, and once earned, it cannot be taken away.

  3. With a PhD I would think you would be too smart to be driving drunk....But what do I know I am just a fool with a Masters

  4. that could really wreck your career even if it is none medical. I am not sure if the PhD can be stripped from you but it would defiantly hurt your qualifications to have a criminal record for the rest of your life. Working that hard for that much knowledge and then throwing all away on driving drunk arrest is a great way to ruin your life. No company in USA would want that kind of person in their place of business.

  5. nope

but he issuing board can strip you of your license to practice

  6. No!  Good grief!  It could certainly affect your ability to practice in a field that does background checks but those are few.  Most people with Ph.D.'s do research, teach or clinical work and, even if you work with alcoholics(for instance)--they might take away your job but they can't take away your degree!  Like someone said, your degree can only be taken away if you got it under false pretenses.

  7. Yes, it should... i know for RN's that we would have to attend classes, etc and our license would be suspended.  One cannot have a criminal record and practice medicine, usually.  There are all sorts of background checks, criminal clearance, etc... but, I am sure anything is possible.

  8. I don't believe that your PhD can be revoked, but you may not be able to continue to practice in your current job or renew your license depending on what it is that you do until you meet certain criteria by the board that regulates your profession.

  9. I don't know where you live. But even to ask if drastic measures like this are possible, must mean you are in the US.

  10. yes and yea

  11. yup, you will lose your phd.

8 years of college down the drain.

  12. It depends on your degree. I doubt that you would lose a PhD in theoretical physics if you got a DUI. On the other hand, it might hurt your career.

Anyway, don't worry, man. Your grammar and spelling suck. You probably won't get a PhD.

  13. I would say no but your particular school may be different.  If you are a PhD your credentials aren't related to alcohol per se so I don't think so.  If you are a MD your board or hospital may strip you of your certification.

  14. Your degree can't be stripped off you in the USA unless someone discovers you didn't get it honestly (hired someone to be you at all the exams or something).  However, your ability to practice (if you're a shrink or something) may be curtailed.  If you need a permit to used controlled substances for your work, you may be in a tough spot for that.  If you're a prof or researcher or something, you will most likely have to listen to a lot of whispers and giggling behind your back.

  15. A PhD is a college or university degree. It has NOTHING to do with drunk driving or any other criminal prosecution.
