Pharaoh Loch strikes the first victory of the season in the Hall Green Bags It Runners Up Stakes at Hall Green
Hall Green hosted the Grade A1 Hall Green Bags It Runners Up Stakes on 2ndJanuary, 2012. The winner of the £245 prize money was P Wellon trained, Pharaoh Loch, who was successful in covering the 480 metres distance in 29.15 seconds.
The son of Kinloch Brae out of Kilara Fiona born in July 2009 set into an early pace after leaving from the first stall. He was entered as the 2 to 1 favourite in the race and did justice to the expectations by being the first one to make it to the
wire.
Finishing 3 ¾ lengths behind the winner was, Confident Penrod, trained by C Kyme, who paced up gradually, but got hampered by a crowded start which made it impossible for him to be the first to reach the wire thus, he stood second with the finishing
time of 29.45 seconds.
A Jenkins trained, Barbican Blaze, secured the third position after. He geared up almost instantly after breaking from the stall, but could not keep up with the leaders due to being obstructed in the middle. He finished the race in 29.49 seconds.
Conditioned by G Ballentine, Kilcarrig Champ, was nestled in the fourth position after making it to the other end of the wire in 29.75 seconds.
At a stark difference of five lengths from Kilcarrig Champ, was Pat Sallis trained, Rock It Reason, who sped up towards the ending stages of the race which did not help him in securing any significant place in the race. He took 30.15 seconds for making
it across the wire.
Taking the longest to leave the track was J Meek’s trainee, Greenwell Tank. The hound looked lame in the beginning, but conjured up some pace at the end of the race to no avail. Making up for the 1 ½ length which would have qualified him for at least
the second last position, he covered the track distance in 30.27 seconds.
As was expected, the 2 to 1 favourite of the race, Pharaoh Loch, won the race making his connections proud and more hopeful for the future.
