Pharmaceutical scandals?

I'm trying to do research on pharmaceutical scandals, specifically drugs that have a large impact medically, but have a major side effect that was not advertised. So far when I research all I get is opinionated results. I'm looking for facts. Can any one help or reference me?

The huge "scandal" was thalidomide ... not so much for it's effect in the USA as that the FDA resisted efforts to have it approved.

And the public debate about aborting affected fetuses was fierce.

I agree that thalidomide was a huge scandal 50-60 years ago, and would make a good paper.  More recently, Vioxx being taken off the market due to fatalities was another huge pharmaceutical scandal.  It ought to be easy to google.
