I work with a guy who is a doctor of pharmacy, but he can't practice because he's addicted to a bunch of stuff. Is this common?

  1. only if ur a drug head or have the knowledge 2 sell them.

    lol

  2. I think most pharmacists realize that their license could be lost for a gross violation of their ethics.   Not to mention a criminal offense that would classified as a felony.   It is something like a bank worker embezzling funds from a bank.  I imagine the thought has crossed the minds of many pharmacists and bankers.   But, the criminal consequences and the better angels of who they are control their behavior.  Call it conscience or good upbringing,

  3. I am not a pharmacist, but worked as a Pharmacy Tech. Supervisor at one time. I cannot say how "common" this is, but there are usually some tests that are done before hand to make sure you are not going to hire someone that has problems such as this. There are also security cameras all over the place in case this situation should arise. When I worked we had an issue with one of the pharmacy technicians (you have to be just as cautious with them as with the pharmacists).

I think, as with any drug, certain people are more prone to addictions. Pharmacists and those who are trained in pharmaceuticals do tend to know a higher level of knowledge about the drugs and what "concoctions" you can make that are relatively "safe"… or maybe I should say have a knowledge of the limits one can take and still be in the green. It is a sad situation though when someone has gone through all of that college and education and not be able to utilize his degree because of a psychological addiction.

Added: Just wanted to add that I had free access to all of those drugs and never once did I have a temptation to steal. My job and what I was working for was a higher priority and lasted longer than the short duration of a high a pill could give me.
