If you studied in the field of pharmacogenomics, what types of things would you do, like "examining genes" etc. So what type of jobs/things would you do in a basic day? Thanx! ^~^

  1. Pharmacogenomics is really in it's infancy as a discipline at the moment; it was essentially a concept that biologists considered to become a consequence of the human genome being sequenced. Unfortunately, sequecing the human genome has made scientists realise just how complicated our genetics and our development really are, which makes this sort of thing difficult. Still, as personal genome sequencing becomes more affordable, there should be a move towards this sort of approach in medicine.

So, answering your question is difficult. Most of the "work" in this area in the near future will be down to research in human genetics and pharmacy. Hopefully, in the future it should make up a regular part of our medical care when making decisions on drugs used, but thats certainly a little way off just yet.
