  1. When a person takes a job as a pharmacist, they have a responsibility to the public they serve.  There are two points of view on how they can fulfill this responsibility.  One is that they must dispense whatever the law says is permissible, and if that violates their morality, then they should get another job.

I favor the second approach: If the pharmacist refers the client to other pharmacies that are reasonable convenient, then the pharmacist has fulfilled his or her duty.

What is NOT acceptable is for a pharmacist to refuse to dispense the medication and then not give the client other alternatives.

Does the Washington law say anything about referring people elsewhere?

  2. Thank goodness they can follow their conscience.  There are too many professions, including pharmacy, where it is difficult for a person of conscience to practice.

  3. The pharmacist must be able to refer the client to another pharmacy that can fill the prescription.

I have no problem if a particular pharmicist has a personal reason not to fill the prescription. I just will never shop at that pharmacy ever, ever again.

I could be wrong here, but I don't think so.

  4. I think this is wrong, it is a personal choice and i shouldn't concern other people

  5. I don't like it, but I don't think it's wrong.   A business owner has the right to sell the products s/he chooses to.  And I have the right to shop elsewhere and to tell my friends to shop elsewhere.

  6. its their business, and they have the right to refuse service to anyone.  so, they can refuse service to people who want to take the abortion pill.  they also have a right to decide what types of shampoos they carry, so why can't they decide which medicines to carry.

some business owners might be pro life, and by forcing them to carry this pill, its restricting their rights.  maybe they are against it for a religious reason, so if they sell it they think they are going to h**l.

i believe it should be the choice of the pharmacist.
