Phase two begins for Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods believes that the Arnold Palmer Invitational victory is not to be considered as a comeback. According to him, he was back a couple of months ago.
The 36-year-old American professional golf player shared that this victory is not his first, he has also won the title of the Chevron World Challenge in 2011. "This is my second win,'' Woods said.
Similarly, he also performed well in other tournaments of the current year, like the Australian Open, in Abu Dhabi, at Pebble Beach and at the Honda Classic.
After 2009, till 2011, he did not win any titles but displayed tremendous finishes in three years.
He believes that he made his comeback in 2011 by playing well in most of the tournaments.
He finished the Cadillac Championship on the 10th, Tavistock Cup as a runner-up, and Masters Tournament on the 4th place.
He was also in the winning team of The Presidents Cup and also won the title of the Chevron World Challenge in December.
"It was just a matter of staying the course and staying patient ... and here we are,'' Woods said "Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years''.
Now in 2012, he continued his leading performance and finished on the 15th position at AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, and on 17th at Accenture Match Play Championship.
Later on, he tied for the second position at The Honda Classic, was on the fourth leaderboard position at Tavistock Cup and also won the title of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard.
Woods is holding the 6th ranking now, as after 2009, he dropped to fifties and started improving his position from 2011.
“Every golfer has two careers,” Johnny Miller said “You have the first burst, and then sometimes you have a lull, and then you have a second career.
“Some guys have a pretty darn good second career. If I was coaching him, I'd say, 'OK, you made the mistakes you made. Let's just start over. This is the second career. You've got a new swing. Let's see what you can do with this one”.
Hence, the former no. 1 made his comeback in the start of the previous year. Now he is heading to the first major of the year, the Masters.
He is in his full form and is also likely to impress all his followers at Augusta.
