Phebes Wish to make the most out of the Dan Dooley Ford Centre Handicap
The €13,325 prize money of the Dan Dooley Ford Centre Handicap has brought together nine three-year and above contestants to try their luck over the five furlong track at Tipperary on Friday, 10th August. The 8 to 1 entry for the race, Phebes Wish gets the nod for staying persistent and holding on to maintain a certain bench mark in his performance.
The three-year-old bay gelding has raced four times ever since the new season took off and has split the wins and the second scores equally.
Diamond Green’s gelding won the seasonal debut on 12th April, 2012 in the Ladbrokes Bet On Your Mobile Handicap at Wolverhampton over six furlongs. He won the race in partnership with jockey, James Sullivan. He escaped defeat by a narrow neck’s margin while settling Trending as the runner-up.
Holding on to the third position was, Art Dzeko.
The John C. McConnell trained then struck a back-to-back by winning the iRadio iWake Up Apprentice Handicap on 4th May, 2012 at Dundalk over five furlongs.
This time the partner in success was jockey, Ross Coakley. The difference of the rider and the distance did not disturb the winning form of the Irish bay gelding who won by the margin of 1 ¾ lengths.
Judies Child qualified as the runner-up while Model Behaviour filled in the third slot behind the winner.
This race however became until yet the last victory of the season. The race that was to entitle the bay gelding out of, Kathoe, a hat-trick saw Phebes Wish finishing just next to the best.
He qualified as the runner-up in the Fast Shipping Ireland Handicap on 6th July, 2012 at Bellewstown over five furlongs. Faleena defeated the three-year-old by the margin of two lengths.
The very next try of the Derek Kierans’ owned was in the Coors Light Handicap on 8th August, 2012 at Newcastle over five furlongs. This time the margin by which the favourite entry lost was of 1 ½ lengths.
Today the mount of Ross Coakley will need to look out for An Saighdiur and Possible when racing out of the fifth gate.
