I clearly saw that the Serbian Cavic touched the pool wall BEFORE Phelps but the man from U.S.A. was more showy and he got the first place (Cavic `s hands were ALREADY on the wall when Phelps touched it)

  1. The touch pad don't lie. You have to swim the whole 100 meters not 99!

  2. Everything is electronically recorded on those touch pads. I would imagine that 1/100 of a second difference is impossible to see with the human eye, especially on tv.  I believe he won it.

  3. He didn't touch it first. He kind of "glided" into the wall, thinking he won, but Phelps took a half-stroke and beat him by a one-one hundredth of a second.

Look at the picture.  In it, they're both touching it, but clearly Phelps touched first because his fingers are bent and Cavok's have just gotten there.

Phelps' took one last short stroke, quickly which made him the winner.  Cavok lifted his head, and he lost momentum.  If he had kept his head down, he would be the winner.

  5. You saw how close it was.  It was very close and probably could have gone either way.  I guess it is easy to assume that he won because well he is so amazing but its more than that.  It was a very good race that actually was worth watching.  We can say what we say but i am sure they looked at it a bilion more times than we have.

  6. I think that there is a touch pad which gets the exact time, so that means phelps touched the wall first

  7. It has been determined by several experts including the people who make the touch pads, Phelps won, end of story. If the other guy would have finished stronger, he would have easily won. That is why it is the 100.000 meter, and not the 99.999 meter.

  8. Well, unlike some sports (Gymnastics, diving etc.) where the marks are down to the starting difficulty and then marked on the judges opinions of execution and artistry, there's no option for biased judging in swimming as the touch plates are computerised.  So yes, I believe it.  Heck, if he can get 6, why shouldn't he get 7 or 8!  He's obviously good enough and has "only" equalled Mark Spitz so yes, I believe the computer.

  9. Gosh, I have seen so many questions relating to Phelps and presumed it was Vanessa!!!!  Wondered why she was so popular all of a sudden!

I clearly do NOT watch the olympics!

    :)

  10. Yeah. Did you hear that the timers and the cameras and all the technology of the Olympics cheated for him? NO. i can't believe he stil needs to prove himself after all the amazing races he's won. He's talented and i can't believe people would doubt his legitimate victory. Also, the other guy's coach actually challenged the call and the judges reviewed it, and yeah, Phelps still won. I think everyone needs to get over it. You saw wrong.

  11. Reuters, the official time keepers of the Olympics, looked into this issue and officially stated that PHELPS had touched the wall first.

  12. nope you're wrong

they showed at least 10 different slow-mos and it clearly showed that phelps touched before cavic

i think its because phelps is much taller than cavic and he quickly swung his arms to touch the wall

and instead cavic like slowly glided into the wall assuming that he won

lol to be honest wiht you

i thought that m. phelps was going to get second because i thought there was no way for him to make it. as much as i love him, it's what i believed

but hes such an amazing swimmer though

  13. The swimmer has to touch the pad not lightly brush it with a fingernail.

Besides camera angles can trick you sometimes and I've seen two different ones. One phelps touches the wall first the other the serbian touches first.

  14. I watched this 100000000 times and still have no idea

  15. The sensors in the pool don't lie.

  16. hes got the medal

  17. all this uproar about phelps being the best athlete ever is c**p , surely someone who is multi-talented in sport would be the best? And tbh , it's not about how good he is , it's about the competition , obviously he doesn't have any good competition.

    :)

  18. I agree with you, I believe that the other guy touched the wall first...

I have swum in pools with those touchpads before, and you have to press quite hard on them for them to register, so I suspect that Phelps didn't actually touch it.

I really hope he doesn't win the 8th medal. He is apparently very unfriendly towards other athletes and quite stuck up.

  19. He won it and we are never going to hear the last of it.
