Michael would be a true Olympian only if he gives the gold medal to its rightful owner.

  1. No. Phelps was first, and that's all there is to it.

  2. Watch Michael Phelps videos at Beijing 2008 Olympic swimming finals below

  3. I dont understand why he would have to give away his medal, should the us mens relay team also give their gold to the french just because it was extremely close?

  4. I agree with you!

    Just look at this:

    GLORY TO CAVIC!!!

    GLORY TO SERBIA!!!

  5. No i don't think so. Michael Phelps earned and deserved that gold medal. It was a very close call, but he DID hit the wall first.

  6. I heard Phelps won by a finger nail. =)

  7. phelps did win the race and definitely deserves the gold medal. yeah it was really close but phelps won :)

the sensors are very accurate but if you want to see for yourself look at some freeze frame pictures of the race

    photo number 8 especially

  8. Well Cavic had his one chance to contest it... which he did.  And it was officially ruled that Phelps is the rightful owner.  Now get over it.

  9. That was a really close call, but Cavic is not the rightful owner and we all know it. It all comes down to the cameras.

  10. the guy earned the medal he needs not give it away IDIOT

  11. Even the cameras show a Phelps victory. There is the irrefutable proof.

  12. It's the other guy's fault for not hitting the wall hard enough. His fingertips didn't set the sensor off in time. He should have taken that extra stroke like Phelps to slam into the sensor.

I agree that if we went by looking, Cavic won, but we go by sensors on the pad and the gentle fingertips didn't win against Phelps slamming it.

  13. If you look at the slow-mo playback, you notice that Cavic has his hand and fingers pulled back. He didn't extend it. But Phelps has his hand and fingers extended to the max.

It was so a very close match between the two of them. The timer don't lie

  14. Why would he give his gold medal to the slower swimmer?  What is Olympian about that?  It is not like a judge's mistake gave him the medal.  The faster swimmer gets the Gold medal.  Maybe Cavic should not have coasted in?  Who would think that the 2nd fastest is the rightful owner?  The rightful owner is the fastest swimmer, case closed.

  15. Phelps did win! You can see in slow motion, he did win! Phelps lost to Cavic in the heat, he won this time though!!!

  16. Phelps won... it might of been by an EXTREMELY small amount, but he won. If you think that Phelps should give the medal to Cavic then should Britta Steffen of Germany give the gold to Dara Torres of the United States? She beat her by the same amount that Phelps beat Cavic in the women's 50m freestyle. 0.01 is the smallest amount you could win by in swimming, but it still is a win.

  17. No, he doesn't need to do anything at all except enjoy his run. Cavic said he was perfectly satisfied with a silver, since he never even planned on anything except possibly a bronze. I think we have two very good sports here!
