Question:

Phelps vs Bolt!? Through the World's eyes!?

This question was deleted for some reason, I don't know why...

Do you agree that breaking 100m and 200m world records are HARDER than 200m swimming pool records?

Think about it...

Bolt did not just break them, he actually didn't give his 100% to do so (especially the 100m). The history of 100m world record is no joke, the title of "WORLDS FASTEST MAN" is the most watched race in any Olympics!

So, why Americans think whoever won the most world gold medals (like Phelps) is more special than WORLD's FASTEST MAN (like Bolt)?

Who TRULY deserves the title "OLYMPICS 2008 STAR"?

  1. LOL.  You think whoever wins the 100m should ALWAYS be the Olympics Star. WOW you're such a moron.  Michael Phelps achieved one  of the greatest things a human can physically do.  Winning EIGHT gold medals in ONE Olympics.  Someone is always going to win the 100m.  But how often does someone break a record like Michael Phelps. Don't be such a moron kid. Just stfu and don't cry.

  2. I think they were both great in their own unique way yes maybe Bolt might of had a chance to win more if there were more events but that doesn't take away from what Phelps achieved and if it was that easy to win 8 Golds why has it never been done before.

I am not American so I am impartial as I said they both made the games great but then so did many many other athletes.

  3. You can't compare swimming with athletics. How many golds would an 85kg boxer need to win to be called the greatest olympian ever... 5 or 6 maybe. They would need to be around for 20+ years to do that.

Swimming has far too many medals, and therefore winning 8 golds is a remarkable achievement. But it doesn't make him the best olympian of all time, it doesn't even make him the best olympian there. Only a handful of countries actually compete in swimming at a high level. Phelps was part of i think 3 or 4 relay teams, and medleys which are stupid events. It would be like in athletics having someone running 100m forwards, 100m backwards, 100m facing one way, and 100m facing the other way. Boom 4 golds to Bolt.

Having said that, Bolt did win 3 golds in 3 record times, shattering records that were tipped to stay around forever (200m, 4x100m). He is truly the greatest sprinter around. The simple fact that he dominated the rest of the field to win in 3 record times (up until the olympics only 3 athletic records had been broken this year, compared to 25+ for swimming under the new LZR racer). Bolt is the olympics 2008 star.

Of course, neither should (yet) go down as greatest olympian until they prove their longevity like many other great athletes.

  4. If Bolt was a US athlete and Phelps wasn't then I think the focus would be on Bolt.

  5. The Problem is no one is ever going to look at it that way. Especially  when Yahoo is full of americans.
