Phil Hughes extends his contract with Worcestershire - Cricket News Update

Australia’s opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 County Cricket Club on Thursday.
The 23-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 last month, had initially agreed to join the county in June, but now
the Australian has confirmed that he will arrive in the UK by the start of the County season.
Worcestershire's director of cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-John-Rhodes-c91315 was delighted to have Hughes available for the complete season and hoped his presence in the dressing room will be a real boost.
"We are delighted to have available a player of Phil's stature for the whole 2012 season," said Steve Rhodes. "This was our original plan when we first set out in search of Phil's signature and it will give the dressing room a real
boost,” he added further.
Rhodes told reporters that he had spoken to Hughes as well and the Australian feels playing a full English season will provide him an opportunity to score plenty of runs. Rhodes said that they were looking forward to Hughes joining
up the squad in April and hoped 2012 is going to be an exciting season for the county.
The 2012 County season is set to start on March 31 with a Marylebone Cricket Club University match between Cambridge MCCU and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826, along with Hughes,
at the Trent Bridge Nottingham on April 5.
Hughes was excited about his new assignment and hoped to have a good time at New Road.
"I'm thrilled to have been able to agree terms with Worcestershire to extend my 2012 contract to the full county season," said Hughes speaking to the media reporters after finalizing the deal with the county. "I haven't played a
full season of domestic cricket for more than two years and I can't wait to get to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and meet my new team-mates,” he added further.
