“Phil has three Test hundreds already in 14 Tests, it took me five years to get one and he's already got three. He is a really good kid, he works hard and he is the sort of character we want in this group,” he said.
Since his Test debut in February 2009, Hughes has played 14 matches under to format, scoring a total of 932 runs, at an average of 37.28, including three centuries and two half tons.
