Phil Hughes wants to support http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 in his first Test outing – Cricket News Update
With the Australian changing their composition for the first Test match, opener Phil Hughes feels that he just needs to rotate the strike and needs to support debutant David Warner, who he feels is destined to shine.
Warner is the new face of a revamped Aussie side, which are missing a host of first team players through injury. While the left-hander has proved his mettle in the shorter version of the game through some power hitting knocks, he now finds himself at the
centre of being handed a baggy green cap for the first Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
His preferred position is upfront, where he will be partnering his domestic side’s teammate, Hughes. While Hughes is well aware of the destructive abilities of his new partner, he is more than keen to have him on strike while seeing the action from the non-striker’s
end.
"(I wouldn't) slow down, but I'd try to give him as much strike as possible," he said."If he's taking the game away from the opposition, and that's what he does great, I'm happy sitting up there and watching the game. I'd have the best seat in the house
if that happens."
In his short career so far, Warner was largely considered for the T20 endeavours but since making his debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, his meteoric rise has seen him earn a place in the national Test side.
He earned a reputation of a power hitter after he scored 89 from 43 balls against Proteas, which earned him a contract with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 DareDevils, the Indian Premier League franchise. It was there when he realized, after holding talks with Indian opening batsman,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, that he can become a regular in the longer version of the game.
He then signed a three-year deal with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 and started playing regular first – class cricket. A string of notable performances now sees him at the biggest stage of International cricket.
Hughes simply wants Warner to enjoy his cricket when the Kangaroo take on the Kiwis.
"I think he's in the form of his life. He'll play his natural game and go out there and enjoy it. I just can't wait to be there. Hopefully we can spend some good quality time together,” said Hughes.
