At the same time, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Neville-c29904 also leaving Everton, Jagielka has been appointed as the new captain of the side. Given his new designation at the club, the player seems to be committed to staying at Everton, since he feels that he has to live up to
his role of being the team captain.
He also hopes that the team’s new manager lets him maintain his role as the captain of the squad.
When talking about his role as captain, and discussing the changes that might take place once a new manager comes in, Jagielka is reported to have said, “Yes, definitely. I was made captain for next season when David Moyes was in charge. We will have to
wait and see what happens with the new manager, but hopefully he will keep me in that role and it is something that I am looking forward to doing.”
Jagielka is also hoping for the managerial situation at the club to resolve itself in the near future, so that the players are given a specific direction to head in for the coming season. However, he also revealed that the team’s players knew that the Moyes
was going to be leaving the team.
“I will be able to put it to the back of the mind, definitely,” he said. “We all knew the situation. It wasn't sprung upon us because we had a couple of games to deal with it towards the end of the season when we knew the manager was leaving.”
