Manchester United defender, Phil Jones has claimed that the Red Devils were simply not good enough against Ajax.
United went into their game with Ajax, possessing a two goals to nil lead from the first leg of the tie.
Once the game started, the Red Devils wasted no time in getting another goal on the score sheet, as Javier Hernandez went on to score for the Manchester based club. However, just when it looked like United would march all over Ajax, Aras Ozbiliz scored an
equalizer for the Dutch team, as they looked to try and cause a massive upset.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toby-Alderweireld-c35183 scoring another goal near the end of the game, it seemed like Ajax would have knocked the Red Devils out of the competition, had they been given more time.
Despite the loss in the game at Old Trafford, United went on to progress, with the final score in the tie reading three goals to two in favour of the Red Devils.
Following the game, a number of United players went on to express their disappointment with the result and the quality of performance that the team produced.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903, who started for the team believes that Ajax deserve to win, simply because of the poor performance that the Red Devils put up in the game.
Jones is quoted to have said:  “I don’t think we were at our best tonight, everyone can see that. We got off to a great start, Chicha’s [Hernandez] scored a great finish and we were in control of the game.
“A little bit of complacency crept in and it has cost us. We should have won the game.
“We’ll probably review our performances tomorrow, then take it from there.
“It wasn’t good enough in the second-half, nowhere near.”
The defender then highlighted the fact that United just didn’t seem to possess the tempo and pace that they had displayed earlier in the season.
He continued: “He just said we’ve got to move the ball quicker and up the tempo. We didn’t do that, for whatever reason, we’ll review that tomorrow."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson believes that his side performed in such a disappointing manner, because of the fact that his squad selection was not up to the mark.
However, with both the players and the manager being aware of just what to change for the next game, it is safe to say United won’t disappoint, the next time they step onto the pitch.
