After arriving from Blackburn Rovers for 18 million pounds, Jones has had a mixed first season at Manchester United as the Red Devils have not yet secured a single piece of silverware other than the Community Shield that they
won at the start of the league campaign...
Jones has come out and expressed his happiness over playing regularly for Manchester United in his first year at the club in the English Premier League. After switching clubs from Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 to Manchester United in the previous
summer transfer window, the Englishman was under pressure to perform and worried that he might not get enough opportunities at United as well.
However both of those questions were answered by December when it was proved that Sir Alex Ferguson was willing to give Jones a chance to cement himself in the first team squad at Old Trafford especially after the injury to Nemanja
Vidic.
No doubt after playing over 40 games for United this season, Jones has gained valuable experience but he has also shown that he is not yet ready to take up the mantle of playing week in and week out for the Red Devils as he is
still prone to make fatal errors. Jones has been tried in central defence as well as at the right back position for Manchester United. Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 has also played him in central midfield but his best position is still under debate at the club.
Jones said, "It has gone really well. If anyone had told me at the start of the season I would have made 40 appearances for Manchester United I would have snapped their hands off. It is incredible. I didn't expect it this season
but it all started off really well. Perhaps I picked up a few injuries at the wrong time because at the back end of the season I couldn't really get my match fitness back.”
He added, "But now I feel good, fit and fresh and hopefully I can finish the season strongly. There is definitely a bit of personal intimidation. You always raise the question to yourself. Am I good enough to be here? The manager
has shown that faith in me. Hopefully I have repaid it. I found it relatively easy to adjust though, because at Blackburn I always saw myself as a player who likes to get the ball down, which is what United love to do."
