Phil Mickelson, Charl Schwartzel, Anthony Kim will play Shell Houston Open
Phil Mickelson, Charl Schwartzel and Anthony Kim have committed that they will be playing the Shell Houston Open, scheduled from March 29 to April 01.
The field is not yet confirmed but these three players will be playing and competing for the title at the month ending tournament, at the Redstone Golf Club, Tournament Course, Humble, Texas.
Their commitment to the Professional Golf Association Tour staged event is impressive. They developed an interest for it so early and are also making the tournament popular.
Mickelson, a 41-year-old American professional, delivered his best in the current season. He won the title of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and also finished the Northern Trust Open on the second position.
He was tremendous at both the tournaments played in the US. His commitment for the Shell Houston is an appealing factor for all the spectators and other field members.
Similarly, Schwartzel also played well since day one in the current year. The 27-year-old South African professional played six tournaments in total this year.
His performance was amazing in all of the events. Out of the six, he played three events at the European Tour, one at the PGA and two at the World Golf Championships.
He carded several birdies and finished among the top-10 most of the time. Hence, his confirmation for the Shell Houston Open field is making the competition more exhilarating.
Kim was unable to impress the spectators in the current season, but he has the capability to lead over the others at the Shell Houston Open.
The reason is that he won the tournament in 2010 and has enough knowledge about the course. The 26-year-old American professional missed the cut in most of the tournaments this year.
Hence, considering his win, Kim has ample chances at the Shell Houston Open to prove his leading skills and enormous scoring ability.
There are many other players who are confirmed for the field. Some renowned names include Fred Couples, Paul Casey, Stuart Appleby, Johnson Wagner, Robert Allenby, Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Hunter Mahan, and Padraig Harrington.
Hence, the arrival of famous players at the Tournament Course of Redstone Golf Club in Texas, is gaining widespread coverage.
It is certain that, like the last year, the 2012 version of the Shell Houston Open will again be a successful event.
