Phil Mickelson feeling the crunch of bad form, puts his sprawling Rancho Santa Fe estate for sale
“Lefty” Phil Mickelson has now decided to list his sprawling 9,500-square-foot estate at Rancho Santa Fe and is asking for a whopping $7.1-million for the same.
Mickleson and wife, Amy Mickelson, who reside in there nearby home, have been in possession of the luxurious estate for quite a while and apparently this is not the first time the couple have decided to sell the property.
Mickelson is known as one of the most sought after golf celebrity in the country, followed by Tiger Woods, and has done well in terms of his earnings in his career.
The veteran has been part of the PGA Tour for more than two decades and has won four major titles in the course of his career.
Like most of the celebrated athletes in the country, Mickelson’s source of income ranges from his multi-million investments in Barclays Financial, Callaway Golf, ExxonMobil, Rolex Watches, Golf Digest apart from the winner’s prize cheques which have been dropping in quite frequently.
Whatever might be the reason for the couple to dispose off their property, Mickelson must be feeling the crunch of his bad form after having won just once since 2010.
He lifted the Shell Houston Open title last year, his second of the two victories in his last 43 appearances worldwide.
He said ahead of this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, "I would like to get to that magic number of 50 wins that few players have done".
He continued, "But, also, finally getting that U.S. Open win would mean a lot to me, as well as would a British Open win, which would conclude the Grand Slam”.
Mickelson has now fallen out of the top-10 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) for the first time since 2004 and is desperately struggling to regain top form.
He played brilliantly in the Open Championship last year where he finished for a strong second, the only American to finish high on the leaderboard.
Mickelson also has the worst record in major championships where he has finished runners up for a staggering seven times. He has won the Masters three times in the course of his career.
Fighting a dilapidating form, Mickelson will be 42 in June this year and hopes to win at least three more events to complete the 50 win mark in his career. He has won 47 professional titles so far.
The single-level estate, 5111 El Mirlo in the exclusive Rancho Santa Fe was earlier appraised for $10.8-million to $12-million in 2008.
However, it had to bear the brunt of swirling economic recession where the real estate prices suffered a severe blow.
It was later appraised at $7.2-million and is now available for another reduction, now at $7.1-million. The property has been on the list for the last ten days.
The house includes five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, one partial bath, Hand-carved fireplaces of white stone, Marble imported from Italy, Swimming pool, Outdoor kitchen, Sand-swept putting green, and stunning artistic Mosaics.
