Phil Mickelson happy to be back on track after Pebble Beach victory– Golf News
The four-time major winner, Phil Mickelson, is pleased to return to his form prior to the start of the Masters Tournament in April, where he registered a total of three wins in his career.
According to Mickelson, he rediscovered his touch on the greens while he was playing the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am back in February and registered a two-stroke margin victory over Charlie Wi.
He is happy to be among the mix of top golfers from all over the world and a hot favourite for a win in the Masters.
However, he has to go a long way to go to be atop the Official World Golf Rankings.
Following his win at the Pebble Beach, he withdrew from the first World Golf Championship of the year, Accenture Match Play Championship, and preferred to spend some time with his family.
He has now returned to action at the second edition of the WGC in the 2012 season, as the Cadillac Championship starts on Thursday, March 8, 2012.
"I am just glad to be back in the mix. I am glad to be back playing well again and to be not just executing in practice but executing back out on tour. That just feels good, to be making putts again," the left-handed veteran American told reporters on Wednesday.
Mickelson believes that the 2012 season is different for him as his putting has been great in the recent months.
According to him, he has been successful in hitting the ball for the last two years, which makes him feel terrific.
"I believe I am going to make them even when I don't. I feel good, the putter just feels good in my hands and I just feel really good on the greens. I have got a lot of confidence," he said.
Besides his putter, the confidence with which he gained the win at the Pebble Beach will also give him a boost in recording good scores at the second WGC, as well as in the first major event of the year.
Mickelson shot an error-free round of eight-under par 64 in the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
