Phil Mickelson looking to bounce back in Akron
On Thursday, 2nd of August 2012, the PGA Tour is going to head towards Akron, Ohio, for the prestigious WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Firestone Country Club is the venue for this event and being a four day event, it is going to end on the 5th
of August.
Fans have tremendous amount of expectations from the players and have faith that they will be getting their money’s worth in the tournament.
Players will be giving their best to impress the spectators and to put on a good show. One of the players who would be looking to bounce back at this tournament is the American professional golfer, Phil Mickelson.
Recently, Mickelson has been going through a rough patch. He has not been performing as well as he used to.
Till now, the 42-year-old has bagged four major titles and 48 professional wins. Out of these 48 wins, 40 came from the PGA Tour, 7 from European Tour and 1 from Challenge Tour.
He is also a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Now, it seems like that Mickelson has lost his magic.
For the past few months, the American has not been giving convincing performances. He has hardly been making the cuts. In the British Open Championship, which took place last month, Mickelson had a score of eleven-over par after the first two rounds of the
tournament. He was not even able to make the half-way cut.
Now Mickelson has a golden opportunity to have a fresh and better start. He can forget what happened in the last couple of months and get back to his winning form.
He himself is very confident about his game. He thinks the practice has helped him and will turn his game around. In an interview he said, “This last week was a great week for me practice wise. I feel like my game has really made a turn”.
Mickelson said that once he hits a good number at the Firestone, he will be fully confident about himself and his game. “The proof in golf is always in the score, but I feel much, much better about my game than I did just a week ago at the British Open,”
he added.
