Phil Mickelson promises a good performance at the Singapore open
The Barclays Singapore Open is scheduled from the 11th of November till the 14th of this month and holds a rather classy collection of golfers. The event is taking place at the Sentosa Golf Club and is welcoming players like Noh
Seung-yul, Matteo Manassero, Adam Scott, Francesco Molinari and Graeme McDowell all challenging each other for one of the most lucrative first place positions.
As of the World Golf Rankings, Martin Kaymer and Phil Mickelson are also contending at the US $ 6 million field but Singapore has a programmed the campaign to be rather tough in nature for these golfers, as the defending champion
Ian Poulter and Padraig Harrington has also promised to appear at the event.
Mickelson is currently standing at position number four in the world ranking. Considering his last appearance in China, the lefty endured a rather huge obstruction that occurred last week. This week however, a much better performance
is predicted from the American golfer.
According to latest reports, today’s play had been suspended relating to hammering rain and lightning. Before the weather conditions worsened, the game had only experienced half an hour of play while some players had only one look
at the Serapong and Tanjong tracks in GC.
The forty year old had previously appeared at the HSBC Champions event and was in the top contenders list for the world number one position along with Martin Kaymer, Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood. His performance however had been
a bit below the par during the previous week but considering this week’s event, the lefty has predicted a performance that would definitely satisfy his fans.
Mickelson ended the HSBC Champions in Shanghai at the 41st position and said that he hadn’t played his best game of golf at the event. He is currently at the second week of his 2 week stretch and wants to play like he had in Augusta.
Kaymer makes it to the third place at the golf world ranking currently and is still threatening the number one position of the leader Lee Westwood with his play.
According to Ian Poulter, there are a lot of players competing for the apex which makes the frame a bit too crowded. He calculated the time frame these golfers have to make it to for the top and it came out to be a rather long
stretch of six months. So, there are currently the full top ten list of golfers competing for the number one position that had been tabooed in the Tiger Woods reign.
“The number one spot is something I am currently aiming for." Poulter said.
